World Wrap Up

We wrapped up our study of the seven continents.  When we completed our last page in our passport research books, the students cheered and then immediately groaned.  They were proud to have finished their books but sad the unit was over.  I hope you got a chance to check out their passport books when they came home.  More evidence of our learning is hanging all around the school.  We have an incredible chart just outside our room.  We also have a book summary hanging in the hallway by the library.  Each primary classroom took a book and transformed a pumpkin into some representation of the book.  Our class took the Fantastic Flying Journey and made our pumpkin a hot air balloon.

We finally put together our giant map of the world.  The students have been ripping out the continents all through.  It was amazing to see their maps come together and the ease at which the students could place the continents correctly.  They were pretty proud.

We also concluded with a fun Kahoot geography quiz.  Students wrote a paper about where they would travel if they could go to any continent.  They have so many great ideas.

Of course, we had to have one last world themed STEM challenge.  For this challenge, all different STEM bin materials were available around the room.  We had dominos, pipe cleaners, Legos, blocks, paper towel rolls, cups, and more.  Students had to pick a world landmark, then a material, and build it.  Students took pictures of their creations and made a collage.  Check out their amazing work!
