This is the only summer slide I want our children experiencing this summer! The first graders have made such wonderful progress. We don't want them to lose any of the learning they have worked so hard to achieve. If children don't read over the summer months, they can lose up to three months of progress. Please don't let this happen. In the children's last day bags, there is a summer learning packet. The review packet is filled with reading, writing, spelling, and math activities to help the students sharpen and maintain their skills. Also, don't forget the blog! The top button bar for the blog has tons of FUN and ENGAGING ways to keep those little minds sharp.
Here I have circled three power tools for summer learning! Front Row is a online tool to help with math. The program is available on the computer, as well as, as an app on the ipad. Click on Front Row and there is directions on how to log in to your child's account. In the program, students work at their pace to master first grade math standards and beyond. Of course, RazKids is excellent for reading! Your child will have access to hundreds of fiction and nonfiction books right on their level. Further, I will be able to see reading progress and send the children notes online. I sure hope some Raz time is on your summer schedule. We will transfer all the RazReading progress from this year to the children's second grade account. Last in the circle is Learning Links. By clicking on Learning Links you will be taken to a Symbaloo of different online learning games. These games are designed for the computer. I am just an email away all summer. If I can by of any help, please contact me. Happy summer learning!
